CONFLICT IN CITIES
Architecture and Urban Order in Divided Jerusalem
The project's investigations into Jerusalem's periphery focus on sites in the north and south of the city. The south site looks at a broad area from the common ground between the Israeli suburb of Pat and the former Jordanian (now Palestinian) Beit Safafa to the contested terrain that is bounded by the Israeli settlement of Gilo and Palestinian Bet Jala. Microsites have been selected that further examine this area such as the northern entrance to Bethlehem at the separation wall and the Israeli controlled Rachel's Tomb.
